New Water Project Toolkit: a guide to sustainable water management
The JRC and EuropeAid (the European Commission's Directorate General for Development and Cooperation) have published a toolkit to improve water resources management in developing countries. It is available both as a report and an interactive online tool and has been launched in Marseille on March 13 in the context of the 6th World Water Forum.
The guide covers the full cycle of water resources management and aims at supporting the water sector practitioners in achieving an equitable, efficient and sustainable use of water through best practice.
It is organised according to project cycle management, is sensitive to local socio-economic contexts and user needs and supports the practical implementation of policy principles. At each stage of the programming process, the toolkit provides a set of practical checklists to identify problem areas likely to be encountered and how to implement potential solutions.
