JRC and EASAC launch closer cooperation with nanotechnology report
The JRC and the European Academies Science Advisory Council (EASAC) will sign an agreement for closer cooperation on 18 October 2011. During a conference at the Royal Academies for Science and the Arts of Belgium, the two organizations will present the first result of their enhanced cooperation: a joint report on the impact of engineered nanomaterials on health.
The presentation of the report "Impact of engineered nanomaterials on health: considerations for benefit-risk assessment" will be followed by a panel debate on nanotechnology, involving high-level representatives of the Polish Presidency, EU policy makers, industry and NGOs.
With the JRC in charge of direct research and in-house scientific support of EU policies, and EASAC providing a means for the collective voice of national science academies in Europe to be heard, this first strategic JRC-EASAC liaison will serve to make closer links between EU national science academies and the policy-making processes in the EU.
