The EU to award three women innovators
The European Commission has launched a contest to award three women entrepreneurs who have managed to transform their visions and ideas into a market success. The three prizes, of €100 000, €50 000 and €25 000 respectively, will be granted to three women who benefitted of funding for projects under the RTD Framework Programme (FP) or the Competitive and Innovation Framework Programme (CIP).
Interested applicants are required to have had founded or-co-founded the company before 2009 and to have had an annual turnover of at least €100 000 in 2009 or 2010. The award criteria include originality and marketability of the developed product or service, its economic and social relevance for Europe, as well as the scientific content of the innovation.
The deadline for submission of applications is 20 September 2011 at 17.00 (Brussels local time). The award ceremony will take place on 5 December 2011 at the Innovation Convention organised by the European Commission in Brussels.
