Croatia: JRC info day
In the run up to Croatia's accession to the EU, which will take place on 1 July, the JRC has today organised an information day in Zagreb, in order to update the Croatian scientific and policy community about the different possibilities of cooperation with the European Commission's in-house science service.
Cooperation is already on going and was presented during the event, in addition to the Croatian priorities in the area of science and innovation and some background information on how the JRC works with EU countries and research laboratories.
In the afternoon, two thematic workshops took place, focusing on energy & environment and food consumer protection. They were followed by a session for young Croatian scientists on jobs and cooperation opportunities with the JRC.
Saša Zelenika, Assistant Minister, Ministry of Science, Education and Sports and Krzysztof Maruszewski, Director of the JRC's Institute for Health and Consumer Protection opened the conference, which involved more than 150 Croatian and EU representatives.
