| Study on European and EU Patents Court
|
In the context of the ongoing work on
the creation of a European and EU Patents Court, DG
MARKT needs to obtain more precise data supporting
concrete models for the financing of this new
specialised jurisdictional system. The overall costs of
setting up and running a new jurisdictional system must
be analysed in detail on the basis of the consensus
reached on the fundamental features of the future
jurisdictional system in the Competitiveness Council on
4.12.2009.
A detailed study of various models
for the financing of a jurisdictional system will enable
DG MARKT to prepare balanced proposals for the financing
of the UPLS and to conduct with Member States an
informed discussion about the appropriate fee structure,
thus laying the ground for the final negotiation in the
Council on the outstanding provisions in the draft
Agreement on the UPLS relating to financing. |
