Our Directorate-General has the following duties with regard to security:
preventing or responding to emergencies, by providing a single
contact point outside office hours and monitoring the security situation
in close collaboration with the national authorities;
raising awareness amongst staff of security issues;
investigating all illegal acts committed on Commission premises;
devising and implementing data security and secure communications
measures to facilitate the secure exchange of confidential information
both within and outside the Commission.
Alert States - were introduced following the 9/11 attacks as a formalised response system to deal with threats of any kind to the Commission, its staff, information or premises. The current threat level is "WHITE"
