EU internal security strategy: a new impetus

20/06/2014

The European Commission published today a report assessing the progress made under each key area of the EU Internal Security Strategy (ISS) since 2010 and identifying possible ways to step up the EU's response to common threats such as organised crime,  trafficking in human beings, terrorism, cybercrime, corruption, etc.

While the objectives of the Strategy remain valid, concrete measures and actions must be reviewed. Ahead of the adoption, in 2015, of a renewed Internal Security Strategy, the Commission will consult the Member States, the European Parliament, but also the private sector, civil society and the research sector – including through a High-Level Conference to take place in the autumn this year.
