State officials are receiving training on the issuing of Schengen visas, providing the Latvian consular service with qualitative and fully trained staff, knowledgeable on the common visa policy.
|Project dates||14/11/2008 - 15/06/2015|
|Total budget||€904 944|
|Name of the entity managing the project||Ministry of Foreign Affairs|
The project organises regional training for consular officials. Due to the high level of staff rotation among Latvian diplomatic and consular representations abroad, training sessions take place on an annual basis. As part of the training, guest lecturers from other countries within the Schengen area are invited to speak, helping to create a more unified approach to the application of the EU law on the issue of visas in the Schengen area.
The state officials receive training on various aspects of the common visa policy, such as irregular migration, the effective use of different information systems in the visa issuing process, and the practical aspects of implementing legal provisions and information systems regarding the issue of visas. In one particular phase of the training, participants receive practical training on issuing visas in their respective region.
The training also keeps the officials up-to-date on the latest legislative amendments affecting the processing of visa applications and visa issuing.
