The Bomb Data Center provides a database of investigations into incidents involving explosives. It is accessible to both Slovak and foreign experts.
|Total budget||€200 000|
|Project Coordinator||Institute of Forensic Science (Slovak Republic)|
The Center provides a complex system of software, hardware, technical infrastructure and methodology. The result is a database through which domestic and foreign experts can receive and exchange information on investigations of incidents involving explosive devices.
The project connected all Bomb Disposal Units in the Slovak Republic and targeted police technicians, experts and officers from Customs, Border Guard, government controlled security services, and the Army and National Defence forces.
The exchange of data between domestic and foreign experts means that information can be disseminated widely, and creates a fast and effective search function, providing all available information on criminal activities committed with the use of explosives.
This project is a starting point for international cooperation between pyrotechnical teams. It is hoped that the project will be replicated in other EU and candidate countries. If this happens, the Bomb Data Centers would operate as national contact points, in liaison with Interpol, Europol, and the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) database.
