Health investments in the EU: mapping report showing use of European Structural and Investment Funds (ESIF) now available online

In the context of the project “Effective use of European Structural and Investment Funds (ESIF) for health investments in the programming period 2014-2020”, co-financed by the EU Health Programme, the Commission has launched a mapping report (http://www.esifforhealth.eu/Mapping_report.htm) providing an overview of actions that Member States envisage for support from ESIF in the health sector in the programming period 2014-2020.

It consists of two inseparable parts - the analytical part (covering the whole of the EU) and individual country sheets, presenting  information on what each EU country will spend for health using the ESIF 2014-2020. It reveals, for example, that the use of ESIF for health-related investments has been foreseen in all EU Member States and that over EUR 3.891 billion will be spent on health infrastructure and EUR 954 million for the use of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) in health and more than EUR 4 billion will be invested in access to healthcare (health care and social services combined) and Active and Healthy Ageing. In addition to ESIF 2014-2020, the mapping report summarizes health investments from Structural Funds in 2007–2013 programming period.
