European Reference Networks: February news
Since the last ERN news on 9 December, 2014, progress has been made in several areas, for example:
- On 19 January 2015, the ERN Board of Member States approved the rules of procedure for the functioning of the Board. The Board will be in charge of the approval of Networks and membership. Minutes from the meeting(s) and information on Member States’ policies and activities related to the implementation of ERNs can be found here.
- The development of the assessment manual and toolbox for the ERNs has started. The PACE-ERN consortium integrated by EURORDIS, HOPE and ACCREDITATION EUROPE won the call for tender of the Commission and will develop a technical proposal in the coming months. The Manual will be the common assessment tool of all the Network proposals and will be based on the criteria established in the Commission Delegated Decision on ERN.
- Websites of the pilot Networks on Rare Paediatric Cancer (ExporNet) and neurologic complex conditions (E-pilepsy) funded by the Health Public Programme have been launched.
The Commission foresees to launch its call for ERNs in December 2015. All stakeholders involved in providing highly specialised healthcare for rare diseases or low prevalence and complex diseases are invited to get prepared. It’s never too early!
