Survey of new information and communications technologies in consumer organisations

In Spring 1998, Health and Consumer Protection Directorate-Generalundertook a pilot survey of the use of new information and communications technologies by consumer organisations. This survey was based on a questionnaire issued to a sample of consumer organisations and the response, from approximately 40 organisations, was encouraging.

In order to keep track of progress in this field, the Commission would like to renew this survey this year. We hope that, by giving the questionnaire more visibility via the Health and Consumer Protection Directorate-General web site, there will be a greater and more representative response.

The survey is intended to cover only consumer organisations in EU Member-States and in applicant-countries. The questionnaire is not very long and can be completed relatively quickly.

Those consumer organisations wishing to participate can either fill it in online or download a PDF file (48 KB) or request a Word 97 version by e-mail at the following address

A paper copy of the questionnaire can also be obtained by ordinary mail or fax: requests should be sent either by fax ((+32 2) 299-40-35) or by mail to the following address :

Information relating to individual organisations will not be published, but it is intended to publish the aggregate results of the survey on this web site, and a copy will also be sent to each participating organisation.
