Public consultation on a working mandate: Health Effects of Artificial Light
The European Commission has requested a scientific opinion from the Scientific Committee on Emerging and Newly Identified Health Risks (SCENIHR) on health effects of artificial light. This includes a wide range of commonly used lamps, for example halogen lamps, or normal incandescent lamps.
Today, the Commission launches a public consultation on this working mandate.
All interested parties are invited to submit their comments and proposals by 4 January 2010. Further details can be found here:
The European Commission uses expert advice on risk assessment from three non-food Scientific Committees when preparing policies and proposals. These committees are made up of external, independent scientists and provide authoritative scientific advice in the fields of consumer safety, public health and the environment. The three non-food Scientific Committees are - the Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety (SCCS), the Scientific Committee on Health and Environmental Risks (SCHER) and the Scientific Committee on Emerging and Newly Identified Health Risks (SCENIHR).
