Call for experts in ophthalmology
The Commission's independent Scientific Committee on Emerging and Newly Identified Health Risks (SCENIHR) is looking for an expert in ophthalmology for its working group on "Health effects of artificial light".
The call for expression of interest is launched today with deadline of 1 September 2010. For more information and to submit an application, please visit the dedicated webpage.
The European Commission has recently requested that the SCENIHR assess the potential health impacts caused by artificial light. The detailed mandate for this assessment can be found here. To allow for a comprehensive assessment, experts in the field of ophthalmology are needed.
The SCENIHR seeks experts with relevant professional experience, particularly in the area of damage to the eye induced by optical radiation and in cataract and/or retinal damage. Experience in risk assessment issues would be an advantage.
Further information on SCENIHR and the European Commission's other non-food Scientific Committees can be found here.
