EU Health Prize for Journalists: Final Call for Submitting Articles!

The deadline for submitting articles to the EU Health Prize for Journalists is 15 June 2009.

This award, announced by Commissioner for Health, Androulla Vassiliou, in February 2009, is part of the "Europe for patients" campaign. The campaign highlights 10 health policy initiatives which are bound by a common goal: better healthcare for all in Europe. They concentrate on patients' rights in cross-border health care, patient safety, rare diseases, organ donation and transplantation, cancer, health workforce, flu and childhood vaccination, mental health and prudent use of antibiotics.
The Prize will reward journalists who have contributed in a significant way to helping the understanding of EU health issues falling within the Europe for Patients campaign.
The selection of the winner will be a two-step procedure; national juries will first select one finalist per Member State, whom they will then propose to the EU jury. In autumn 2009, the EU Jury will select the final winner and two runners-up of the EU-wide award.
The prizes are 5000 € for the winner, 3000 € for the second prize and 2000 € for the third prize.
