1st International Conference on Risk Assessment "Global Risk Assessment Dialogue", 13-14 November 2008, Brussels
Mobile telephones, personal music players and products using nanotechnologies are just a few examples of recent innovations with questions on potential health risks.
How to ensure that new technologies and products in a global market are safe for health and the environment?
With the aim of answering this question, the European Commission Directorate-General for Health and Consumers held the first of a regular, bi-annual International Conferences on Risk Assessment that will launch a Global Risk Assessment Dialogue in Brussels on 13-14 November.
The event was opened by EU Health Commissioner, Androulla Vassiliou and brought together experts in risk assessment including scientists, practitioners, and representatives of EU and international risk assessment bodies, to facilitate a global dialogue on risk assessment.
