Food and Feed Safety (28-03-2008)
Training on Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed held in Casablanca
The European Commission is running a training workshop on the EU's Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF) in Casablanca on 1-3 April as part of the Health and Consumer Protection DG's 'Better Training for Safer Food' initiative. Around 80 government officials, competent authority staff and industry representatives from across Africa should attend.
The workshop aims to train participants on the functioning of the RASFF so as to explore possibilities for establishing similar systems elsewhere in the world. This is the first of three such workshops for 2008. The others are scheduled for Indonesia in June and Turkey in October.
The first day will focus on introducing and giving an overview of the RASFF. Practical exercises, concerning actions to be taken for RASFF notifications, will be carried out on the second day. On the final day, participants will undertake computer-based exercises and case studies related to RASFF notifications.
