EU Disease Control Agency Launches Search for Top Scientists
The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC), the new EU agency with the mission to strengthen Europe's defences against epidemics, has started its search for world class scientific staff. Job advertisements have been circulated to national public health authorities across Europe and published on the internet.
The jobs advertised include top posts in the three key scientific units of the new agency, the unit coordinating the production of scientific advice, the unit responsible for strengthening and developing Europe's existing systems of continent wide disease surveillance, and the unit responsible for preparedness and rapid response to disease outbreaks. Candidates for each of these posts will need outstanding scientific credentials as well as a solid track record in managing teams. The ECDC is located in Stockholm, Sweden, and the Director Mrs Zsuzsanna Jakab and a small team of support staff, are currently working to have the Centre operational by 20 May.
