Health-EU portal to issue multilingual newsletter
DG Health and Consumers
The Health-EU portal will start in September to issue twice a month a multilingual newsletter, which aims to better inform European citizens on what is going on in the field of health at European and international level.
The newsletter will be published in 20 European languages and will host links to interactive features on public health. It will keep citizens updated on health-related events and publications, conferences and campaigns, while in each edition a topic would be dedicated to a European or international day of action in the field of health. For instance, July 8 is World Allergy Day and the newsletter's "zero edition" provides links to numerous sites focussing on allergies. The newsletter's regular editions will also maintain a section highlighting what is going on in the EU's Member States. "People have a right to know that the information they receive is reliable and understandable, and we have a role in assisting them with this at all levels," Andrzej Rys, Director of Public Health at the European Commission's DG SANCO, said commenting on the decision to issue the newsletter.
Citizens and stakeholders wishing to receive the newsletter can register to its mailing list now and view its "zero edition" at http://health.europa.eu. The Health-EU Portal was created a year ago to provide high-quality, user-friendly information on 47 health topics.
