Public Health (20-06-2007)
The role of health in other policy areas will be examined in a two-day seminar next Monday and Tuesday (25 and 26 June). The seminar, titled "Health in All Policies," (HiAP) is organised by the European Commission, the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the European Observatory on Health Systems and Policies within the framework of the European Neighbourhood Policy. It is expected to attract 100 officials from the ENP countries, the EC and WHO.
The Commission's Director for Public Health, Andrzej Ryś, will outline the European Agenda for HiAP and will stress the importance of health in the development of all Community legislation and policies. HiAP is an important part of the Commission's forthcoming Health Strategy that will provide an overall framework for EU health policy in the coming decade. WHO's Deputy Regional Director for Europe, Dr Nata Menabde, will highlight the needs and opportunities for collaboration on HiAP in the EU neighbouring countries.
Technical assistance and funding for this event are provided by the Commission's TAIEX instrument (Technical Assistance to promote Information Exchange).
