Commissioner Kyprianou signs "healthy food" pact with international restaurateurs.

On July 31 in Brussels Markos Kyprianou, European Commissioner for Health and Consumer Protection signed an agreement with the International Academy of Gastronomy -which represents academies from 26 countries, and Relais et Châteaux – an association of fine restaurants from 21 countries.

The Commissioner signed the agreement with Georges Husni, Secretary of the International Academy of Gastronomy and Jaume Tàpies, President of Relais et Châteaux.

The agreement brings together the two gastronomic associations to develop a set of healthy, modestly priced, and publicly available recipes from some of the best chefs in the world.

The two bodies have pledged to ensure that all the recipes will use easily available ingredients, and will contain a maximum of 800 calories each. They have also agreed to verify the scientific authenticity of all the calorific and nutritional information in the book.

This document will be publicly available on the internet.
