European Innovation Partnership on Active and Healthy Ageing: From Plan to Action - Register for the conference!
Find out how an innovative pan-European partnership on active & healthy ageing is unfolding, what it will mean for all of us as we grow older and how you can get involved!
The conference, taking place in Brussels on 3 April, will be opened by John Dalli, Commissioner for Health & Consumers and Neelie Kroes, Vice President of the European Commission. Practical information on how to participate in the Partnership and develop your initiative will be given, as well as plenty of opportunities for networking. Parallel sessions will cover prevention, integrated care and independent living and age friendly cities. You can find out more and register for the conference here. (*)
Ageing is one of the key issues of our times, which is why 2012 has been designated as the European year for active aging. 50 years from now, around a quarter of the EU population will be 65 years or older. Whilst this represents an enormous achievement, an increasingly ageing population also poses numerous challenges. Illnesses often associated with ageing are set to rise, against a backdrop of a reduced health workforce and increasing demands for health services and long-term care.
To tackle these challenges, the European Commission has launched the European Innovation Partnership on Active and Healthy Ageing, as an integral component of the Europe 2020 Strategy. By exploring and promoting effective innovative solutions, the Partnership aims to raise the average healthy lifespan of Europeans by two years by 2020.
