European Consumer Consultative Group (ECCG)

Consisting of national and European consumer organisations, the Commission consults the ECCG on issues relating to consumer policy. It meets 4 times a year in Brussels.

Function

  • Discusses and advises the Commission on matters relating to consumer protection
  • Informs the Commission of developments in consumer policy in EU countries
  • Passes on information and opinions from non-member consumer organisations.

Membership

  • 1 member per EU country from a national consumer organisation
  • 1 member each from European consumer organisations BEUC and ANEC
  • 1 associate member each from Euro Coop and Coface
  • 1 observer each from Iceland and Norway (as European Economic Area countries)
