The EU's Partnership Instrument has successfully enabled the organisation of a four-day workshop held between the European Commission and the Iranian Veterinary Organisation. The workshop aimed to ensure better monitoring of imports of products of animal origin from Iran, mainly casings and fishery products, and to facilitate administrative procedures for border checks at the EU border. The workshop was organised with support from DG NEAR through the TAIEX mechanism
CSDN brings together policymakers and civil society on issues related to peace and conflict. CSDN aims to contribute to strengthening the capacity of the EU and civil society to anticipate, analyse, respond and prevent threats to stability and human development that are posed by violent conflicts and crises. Since 2010, 3130 participants have attended over 90 civil society dialogue events organised in the context of CSDN. The programme is co-financed by the European Peacebuilding Liaison Office (EPLO) and the EU’s Instrument contributing to Stability and Peace.
The European Commission and Italy have signed today the constitutive agreement to launch the first ever EU Regional Trust Fund as a new strategic financing tool to mobilise more aid in response to the Syrian Crisis. The start-up funding provided amounts to 20 million from the EU budget and 3 million from Italy as the first founding donor. Additional funding is foreseen for 2015. The EU Trust Fund will initially focus on support to refugees and host communities in Syria's neighbouring countries.
