Single European Sky

The Commission welcomes the decision of the European Parliament to support the Single European Sky package

The European Parliament approved the second legislative package for the Single European Sky (SES II). The texts approved by the Parliament are the result of very fruitful discussions with the Czech Presidency. The Council should formalise the final adoption of the legislative package very soon. These measures will deliver safer, greener and more performing flights, with annual savings for airlines calculated around four billion euros by 2020.

State aid: Commission approves MÁV-Trakció Zrt taking over loans covered by Hungarian state guarantees

The European Commission raised no objections to the takeover of loans covered by state guarantee by MÁV-Trakció Zrt, provider of traction services for the Hungarian State Railways.

The TEN-T Executive Agency is organising an info day on 22 April at the Centre Conference Albert Borschette in Brussels to provide key information about the Calls for Proposals' background and process for this year's available funding. As of 2009, the Agency is responsible for the execution of the TEN-T Calls for Proposals on behalf of its "parent" DG Energy and Transport.

Nuclear energy

Stronger international guarantees of nuclear non-proliferation: Commission moves forward

The European Commission adopted this week a Communication on nuclear non-proliferation, identifying possible actions to strengthen the EU's contribution to international efforts in this domain, including the development of an international system of guaranteed supply of nuclear fuel under the umbrella of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). The document also presents the main instruments that the Community already has at its disposal to reduce the risk of proliferation of nuclear weapons.
