Blacklist of banned airlines: European Commission adopts an updated list

The European Commission has adopted on 24 July the eighth update of the so-called blacklist of airlines that are banned from flying into the countries of the European Union due to safety concerns.

Passenger Rights in the European Union - Persons with reduced mobility (PRM)

The EU improves access to air transport for people with reduced mobility

The 26 of July will see the entry into force of new rules that will give the disabled and the elderly access to air transport comparable to that enjoyed by all other passengers flying to or from, or passing in transit though, airports in the European Union, with no discrimination and at no additional cost.

The EFTA Surveillance Authority

Commissioner Piebalgs welcomes pioneering decision on state aid for a CO2 capture project

Brussels, 23 July

The ESA, EFTA Surveillance Authority, adopted last week a decision not to raise objections to the Norwegian State’s investment in a project in the western part of Norway (Mongstadt) whose objective will be to test, verify and demonstrate different concepts and technologies capable of reducing costs and risks related to large scale CO2 capture. "This decision provides an important precedent for considerations of state aid cases related to projects that will be necessary for further advancement of technologies for capture and underground storage of CO2 ("CCS") from industrial processes using fossil fuels, first and foremost power generation in coal- and gas-fired power plants", said Commissioner Piebalgs.
