Commissioner Piebalgs underlines the importance of common European rules in the field of Nuclear Safety and Waste Management

Energy Commissioner Andris Piebalgs met with the first chairman of the European High Level Group (HLG) on Nuclear Safety and Waste Management, Mr Andrej Stritar, in Brussels on 20 February. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss nuclear safety and waste management issues, particularly the establishment of common European rules in the field, ahead of the HLG's third meeting in April.

You Choose!, the European Commission’s campaign on energy consumer rights and opening of EU energy markets has published issue 4 of its newsletter. Topics include renewable energies and the consumer as well as an energy efficient lighting initiative by European industry. The newsletter is available in English, French and German. PROGRESS Final Conference on renewable energy support
The European Commission-supported project PROGRESS will celebrate its Final Conference in London on 25 February 2008.

The Conference focuses on the analyses PROGRESS delivered to the European Commission on financial support frameworks, systems of guarantees of origin, administrative barriers, grid barriers and the market of renewable energy sources in EU Member States.
