European Commission launches the Fourth Call for proposals for its Marco Polo programme

The European Commission published the fourth call for proposals for the highly successful Marco Polo programme on 31 July 2006. Commercial undertakings across the European Union and fully participating third countries are invited to submit proposals for the creation of new freight transport services that fight congestion on European roads and improve the environmental performance of the freight transport system, two main objectives of the EU transport policy.

Public hearing on the Strategic EU Energy Review

Following the public consultation that was launched after the adoption  of the  Green Paper for a European strategy for sustainable, competitive and secure energy  in March 2006, stakeholders and the public have been given the opportunity to express their views on the Strategic EU Energy Review directly. The latter is scheduled to be adopted by the Commission on 10 January 2007. To this end, a public hearing has been organised in Brussels (Room S3, Charlemagne Building, rue de la Loi 170, Brussels) on Friday 22 September 2006, starting at 9h30.
