Launch of EU-wide Regional Gas Initiative

The European Regulators Group for Electricity and Gas (ERGEG), an advisory Group to the Commission, has launched a major EU-wide Regional Gas Initiative. It creates four gas Regional Energy Market (REM) projects which will look at how barriers to integration and development can be overcome. This regional approach is supposed to be a stepping stone to achieving a full single competitive gas market. This gas initiative follows a similar initiative for electricity which was launched earlier this year.
