Full text ]
As
one of the main priorities of the Commission's
2001 White Paper on European Transport Policy, the
revitalisation of rail transport is to be one of the key issues
for Vice-President and Transport Commissioner, Jacques
Barrot. In his
speech on 26
January to the
annual reception of the CER (Community of European Railway and
Infrastructure Companies), Vice-President Barrot presented his
five main priorities for the rail sector: the implementation
of 1st Railway Package;
the transposition of the 2nd Railway Package
including the establishment
of the new Railway Agency; substantial advances in the
3rd Railway Package;
and last but not least,
the vital negotiations for the Eurovignette Directive.
