Selection criteria

The following criteria have been developed to help you identify examples of best practice. You can, of course, develop your own criteria to fit the aims of your selection but you can also take into consideration the following list, which can be used as a set of guidelines.

Standard criteria for political ends

  1. Has the project a clear political content?
  2. Did the project involve decision makers?
  3. Did the project allow for an exchange between experts and final users?
  4. Does the project target people living in the EU or outside?
  5. Are some project partners from non-EU countries?
  6. Has the project contributed to the setting up and consolidation of networks?
  7. Have the project results been mainstreamed into national/regional/local policies?
  8. Are the results certified by a public or private body?

Results can be tangible, intangible, products or processes.

Specific criteria linked to a particular theme or programme

  1. Has the project had a clear impact i.e. does it clearly show how the objective of the theme or the programme was reached?
  2. Product responds to a real demand (sector, branch, etc.)
  3. Is the project interesting and convincing and can it serve as a model for other initiatives? Does the project show clearly how the Commission's policies contribute positively to theme or programme?
  4. Has the project already been taken up in new contexts and with new users?
  5. Does the project allow assessment of results: concrete actions that can inspire others; able to be adapted for a different public/situation/sector; exchange of experience, methodologies, tools, know-how, information, etc.?
