Goal

DG's policies would always follow the appropriate procedures. There are no delays linked to procedures applied wrongly. Planning is made correctly considering the time needed for the obligatory steps (e.g. Inter-service consultations, translations, adoption procedure) and unexpected situations would be rare.

Action

Ensure DG's initiatives are adopted in strict application of Commission procedural rules and in a timely way in order to achieve expected political results. Provide advice to services on the Commission's procedural rules

Situation

DG's policies are adopted according to Commission rules however not always in a timely fashion. There are many urgent and unexpected situations that require putting on hold less urgent files in view of new political priorities.
