(18/06/09) EU-Zimbabwe Troika meeting. The specific objective of this meeting was to restore and strengthen cooperation between Zimbabwe and the EU under the Cotonou agreement. (17/06/09) Desertification Day. New research uses the world's arid regions to protect global food supplies. DESIRE project is funded by the European Union and collaborates with the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD). Read more.

(12/06/09) EU-Nigeria Ministerial Troika, Prague. One of the main issues of the meeting was an arrangement of strategic frame, Nigeria-EU Joint Way Forward, which spells out the terms and modalities to intensify Nigeria and EU political dialogue and cooperation. Energy security, impact of the economic crisis, and regional integration were discussed too. Attention was also focused on security and political situation in the Sub-Saharan Africa countries (Mauritania, Guinea, Chad/Sudan, Gulf of Guinea/Niger Delta, security in Western Africa). Meeting was attended by Jan Kohout (CZ), Manuel Lopez Blanco (EC), Ojo Maduekwe (Nigeria), Gunnar Wieslander (SE), José Costa Pereira (Council).

(14/05/09) On 12-13 May 2009, the European Commission has organise a High Level International Conference at the Palais d'Egmont in Brussels on World Prosperity and Development. The Conference brought together distinguished personalities from the political and academic worlds for an informed debate on human development, climate change and global finance and the question of what the EU can contribute to global governance.

(09/01/09) The seventh edition of Spring Day for Europe has just been launched. Running from 25 March to the beginning of May, the campaign has a particular focus on 9 May, the Europe Day. As part of “Plan D” for increased democracy, dialogue and debate, the initiative is organised by European Schoolnet and coordinated by the European Commission. This year Spring Day will be spreading creativity and innovation across Europe and beyond. Read more
