Second series of lectures: "Kapuscinski Lectures" in 2010/2011The European Commission (EC) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) are interested in jointly advocating for the larger, more efficient and coherent development assistance of Member States as well as worldwide attainment of the Millennium Development Goals. To this effect, the EC and UNDP jointly organised in 2009/2010 a series of development lectures delivered by eminent experts at the universities of 12 "new" Member States – the “Kapuscinski Lectures” which started in October 2009, around the International Day for Eradication of Poverty.
Based on this experience the EC and UNDP plan to continue collaboration on raising awareness and building support for development assistance in Member States through a second round of “Kapuscinski Lectures” starting in October 2010 and continuing through to 2011.
The second round of lectures on development cooperation will take place not only in EU12, but across Europe. The main objective of the "Kapuscinski Lectures" is to raise awareness of development cooperation among students, NGOs and interested citizens. They are also useful build-up events to the European Development Days, the largest promotional event in the field of European and global development policy.
The lectures will be followed by open discussions with national and foreign experts on development.
