Colin Manchip is a Director of Eurasylum Ltd. He has 40 years of
senior government and other policy experience in the fields of migration and asylum policy in
Europe and internationally.
From 1991 to 1996 he was one of two Directors then jointly heading the United Kingdom's
Immigration Service. He spent over 35 years in Government Service, almost 34 years of which were in
Immigration and Passport Departments of the United Kingdom's Home Office.
Since leaving Government service, he has been an active consultant and adviser to a wide
range of national government authorities, on migration and asylum affairs. This has included
contribution to the development of international legal and policy standards on migration and/or
refugee policy in Ghana, Zimbabwe, Belarus, Ukraine, Kyrgyzstan, the Russian Federation, Bulgaria,
Croatia, the Turks and Caicos Islands, the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Montenegro,
Jamaica, Jersey and Guernsey.
He has also worked as a consultant on projects for the European Commission, including on the
development of the EU Visa Information System and the evaluation of the European Refugee Fund, as
well as for the IOM, the Council of Europe and the World Bank.
Between 1986 and 1988 he was the Chairman of the Council of Europe Committee on Movement of
People, and during the United Kingdom’s Presidency of the European Union in 1992 he chaired Working
Groups on Expulsion and False Documents.
