EU-funded project launches national journalist contest “Changes in you may change the world” (30/07/2009)

The EU-funded Project “Support to secondary healthcare reform in Ukraine” together with Ministry of Health of Ukraine and the National Healthcare Prize will organise a contest for journalists to cover issues dealing with further development of the healthcare system in Ukraine, including the recommendations from the EU-funded “Support to secondary healthcare reform in Ukraine” project.

Healthcare success depends on various indicators, including communicating innovations and their support to the public. The mass media play an important role in this process, while informing of any processes during healthcare reform and forming the general idea.

The contest facilitators aim at increasing awareness of the mass media about advanced development trends in healthcare of Ukraine and other European countries, as well as making incentives for journalists, in order to cover this issue.

The contest will be held from 1 August to 30 November 2009.The contest results will be announced in December 2009.

During the contest journalists will have an opportunity to obtain detailed information, ask questions of interest to all parties that influence on the process of further healthcare system development, get unbiased and expert opinion of healthcare professionals.

That refers to the role and place of a family doctor within the system of healthcare services, insurance medicine, healthcare development under existing law and regulations, as well as any other issues, in particular. A series of journalistic briefings is to be held during August 2009.
