EU Aid Programme's new call for proposals for Turkish Cypriot community
23.05.2013 The European Commission has announced the launch of the Third Call For Proposal of the grant scheme "Community Development Through Village Initiatives - Improving the Quality of Life in Rural Communities". The launch is a €3,000,000 call for proposals to support projects aiming to improve quality of life in villages in the northern part of Cyprus.
Similarly to previous calls, the third call aims to respond to some of the problems most commonly faced by rural communities in the northern part of Cyprus: to enhance the natural heritage and intangible cultural heritage assets; to improve basic community services; and to reinforce the social cohesion and local governance. Local communities and civil society organisations are invited to apply in partnership among themselves and other local actors.
The deadline for submission of proposals (Concept Notes) is 15 July 2013, 17:00 Cyprus local time. The full Guidelines for potential grant Applicants are available for consultation on the following internet site: http://www.tccruraldevelopment.eu/rdsp/
In the first instance only concept notes would have to be submitted. Applicants whose concept notes have been pre-selected will be invited to submit a full application.
A launch event and information meeting for this call will be held on 24 May 2013 from 11:00 to 12.30 at the EU programme support office, 38-44 Kyrenia Avenue in Nicosia in the presence of European Commission officials. Interested local stakeholders are invited to attend.
A series of information sessions and trainings is under preparation and will take place in June 2013. More information on these sessions and trainings will be available on the above-mentioned web site and will also be made public in local media.
This initiative is funded under the EU Aid Programme for the Turkish Cypriot community, managed by the European Commission.
Cypriot Press is invited to cover the meeting.
