President Barroso appoints new Personal Representative to the UN Good Offices Mission in Cyprus
03.07.2012 The President of the European Commission, José Manuel Barroso, has decided to appoint Mr Pieter Van Nuffel, Legal Advisor in the Commission's Legal Service, as his new Personal Representative to the Good Offices Mission of the United Nations in Cyprus. Mr Pieter Van Nuffel succeeds Mr César das Neves who has taken up another assignment.
This designation demonstrates the continued commitment of President Barroso and the European Commission to supporting the Cyprus settlement process and assisting the United Nations. Mr Pieter Van Nuffel will provide legal advice to the UN Good Offices Mission on EU-related matters and act as liaison between the UN Good Offices Mission and the Commission.
