PRESS RELEASE - Come and Join the Fun at the Europe Day Street Festival!
25.06.2014 The European Commission is organizing a festival to celebrate 9th May Europe Day on 14 June 2014 between 13:00-20:00 in Mehmet Akif Avenue (Dereboyu) in the northern part of Nicosia.
The festival will be a big celebration of Europe Day in the northern part of Cyprus. The event will celebrate Europe Day by focusing on the young generation of the Turkish Cypriot community, young Europeans, as they are the future of Europe. An additional aim of the festival is to bring the Turkish Cypriots closer to the EU by showcasing the projects which have received EU funding in the northern part of Cyprus through a number of stands where the participants of the festival will receive information on the EU and the work being carried out in the Turkish Cypriot community.
The festival will feature various activities including a movie screening, a panel discussion, rock music concerts, activities for children, as well as an award ceremony for the children that have participated in the drawing competition "What Does Europe Mean to You".
