The Directorate-General for Education and Culture
(DG EAC) was involved in the activities of BRXL
BRAVO, which organised an "Arts weekend" in Brussels
on 25, 26 and 27 February 2005.
As part of this event, around one hundred institutions and artists
came together to celebrate multiculturalism.
DG EAC organised a conference on the theme of "Dialogue between
Peoples and Cultures: The Artists and the Cultural Actors"
in the Palais de Beaux-Arts on 25 and 26 February.
The conference brought hundreds of cultural practitioners together
in Brussels. They discussed the contribution of culture to dialogue
between peoples and possible courses of action.

The findings of this conference will give the Commission food for
thought and help it develop better cultural cooperation tools, particularly
with a view to the adoption of the Culture
2007 programme, one of the objectives of which concerns intercultural
dialogue, and the preparatory work for the European Year of Intercultural
Dialogue planned for 2008.
