The European Development Fund, in the context of the Lomé Convention and subsequently the Cotonou partnership, contributes to the preservation and dissemination of languages of African, Caribbean and Pacific countries, for example by establishing programmes for learning or transcribing national languages, and supporting the use of national languages in radio or television educational broadcasts.
The Euro-Mediterranean Partnership supports cultural exchange initiatives and cooperation between civil society organisations.
Moreover, the Euromed Youth Programme encourages exchanges between young people from the two regions.
