The label may be kept on a permanent basis provided that certain conditions are respected. Sites are monitored every 4 years to ensure that they continue to meet the criteria and respect their project and work plans.
If the European panel establishes that a site no longer respects its project and work plan, it will contact the EU country concerned via the Commission.
The site will have 18 months to make adjustments.
If no adjustments are made, the European panel may make practical recommendations on how to improve the situation.
If the recommendations are not implemented within 18 months, the label may be withdrawn.
For national thematic or transnational sites, withdrawal of the label may be limited to one particular site, provided that the coherence of the site is not undermined.
You may choose to give up the label at any time, by notifying your relevant national authority.
