Patras, European Capital of Culture in 2006
Following Cork ( Ireland ) in 2005, it is the turn of Patras ( Greece ) to be European Capital of Culture in 2006. Patras began its programme of festivities with giving an international flair to the Street Carnival that has been the city’s flagship over the last 170 years.
Cultural institutions and many citizens have been taking part in this colourful and joyous celebration.
Some highlights of the weeks to come: the exhibition “Leonardo Da Vinci; Scientist, Inventor, Artist”, a concert by the Symphony Orchestra of Patras, a “Labyrinth of images” on the city of Patras, etc.
