Cultural sector dialogue

As part of the Agenda for Culture, the Commission is committed to dialogue with the culture sector, aiming to ensure its voice is clearly heard in policy debate at European level, through:

1. Platforms involving European associations and networks, which produce policy recommendations, discussed at European Culture Forums.

   There are currently 3 platforms:

   • Platform for intercultural Europe
   • Platform on access to culture [115 KB]
   • Platform on the cultural & creative industries [196 KB] (CCIs)
     Platform on Cultural and Creative Industries recommendations are available on the Civil Society Platform documents
2. European Culture Forums, convened every 2 years (most recently, the 2011 European Culture Forum)

One main benefit of the process is deeper and broader internal dialogue within the culture sector itself, as the various different bodies are required to find common ground in order to represent their interests effectively.

And the process also ensures the sector is better informed of policy development and so more open to engaging with it.
