Wiki Loves Monuments 2011

Romanian Mihai Petre is the proud winner of this year's Wiki Loves Mouments contest.

Wiki Loves Monuments is a photo contest of European monuments that started in the Netherlands in 2010 and has turned into a Europe-wide competition with 18 European countries taking part this year.

Taking and showing photographs of European monuments is one way of discovering and disseminating cultural heritage.

Ms Ann Branch, Head of the European Commission's Culture programme and Actions Unit, took part in the jury that selected a total of 12 photographs, one winner and 11 runners-up.

Art Nouveau Prize

Csaba Attila Kontar's picture of the beautiful interior of Budapest's Museum of Applied Arts has won the special Europeana Prize for Art Nouveau in Wiki Loves Monuments.
