Cultural Fund EU – Mexico
First phase: list of selected projects 2008-2010
It is in this framework that the approval of the first phase of bilateral cooperation in the cultural area in December 2007 is carried out, which coincides with the launching of 2008 as the European Year of the Intercultural Dialogue and it is the first time that from the focus of development cooperation is stimulated to a bilateral level with Mexico a sectoral dialogue on cultural policy. This programme opens a new space of beneficial cultural exchange for the Member States of the European Union, as well as for the Mexican cultural organisations.
A second phase of this programme was approved. This time the administration of the Fund will be carried out by the National Council for Culture and the Arts and the National Fund for Culture and the Arts. The budget of the project is of EUR 6.8 million, which will be contributed to equal parts by the EU and the Mexican government.
At the same time the European Commission is working with the Secretariat of External Relations and the National Council for Culture and the Arts with the end to strengthen cooperation and the dialogue in the area of culture and to issue a joint Declaration that formalises this sectoral dialogue.
