The European Commission's and the Executive Agency for Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency's Infoday in BOZAR in Brussels attracted approximately 400 people from cultural organisations from all over Europe.
Presentations by the European Commission and the Executive Agency highlighted the important role culture plays in the European project. The Commission emphasized that since the adoption of its common agenda on culture in a globalizing world in November 2007, it is working with stakeholders and Member States to develop policies aimed at unzipping Europe's cultural potential.
The information sessions on the Culture Programme provided insights in the measures which have been taken to make the Programme more accessible for cultural organisations. Conditions for participating in the Programme have been simplified. A Programme Guide - which will be valid up to 2013 - was introduced.
This guide contains an overview of the deadlines for applications and the criteria for the various grants. The application procedures have not only been streamlined, the application forms are now far briefer, more users friendly and the financial conditions are simpler than in the previous year.
