This website provides information about this initiative, its activities and other relevant resources in the field of European cultural policy and cultural cooperation.
The website of the European Expert Network on Culture (EENC) has recently been launched at http://www.eenc.eu/
The website aims to become a useful gateway to specialised information for all those interested in this field, including cultural professionals, academics and students. Its contents are available in English, French and/or German.
The website contains several papers addressing issues of interest to cultural policy development in the EU, including access to culture, the role of the cultural and creative industries in regional development, the impact of digitisation in the European cultural sector and in professional skills and the place of culture in civil society empowerment processes in countries outside the EU.
Likewise, the website contains a library of links to relevant resources, including specialised journals, reports, conferences and documentation centres, and a database of experts and organisations active in the fields of cultural policy and cultural cooperation in the EU, other European countries and elsewhere. It will continue to be enlarged in the coming months and regularly updated thereafter.
The EENC is a group of experts which provides advice to the European Commission's Directorate-General for Education and Culture (DG EAC) in the field of cultural policies and cooperation.
It involves 17 leading experts in the field. Other professionals are involved in its activities on a temporary basis. The group started its work in early 2011, following a public call for tender launched by DG EAC.
The EENC is coordinated by the Interarts Foundation and Culture Action Europe. The preparation of the website has also involved Zagreb’s Institute for International Relations (IMO).
