European Rendezvous in Cannes during the Film Festival
During the European Rendezvous in Cannes, Sunday 20 May and Monday 21 May, Commissioner Vassiliou, will participate in important discussions with professionals, she will award the 2012 Prix MEDIA and will host a conference on the future programme CREATIVE EUROPE.
MEDIA to welcome professionals in its tent again in the International Village
The MEDIA Programme will for the 21nd year in a row have a stand at the Marché du Film alongside the Cannes International Film Festival, whose 65th edition will be held from May 16 to 27.
The famous MEDIA umbrella stand will again this year be the "meeting point" for European producers, distributors, sales agents, festival and training organisers or simple curious visitors. The stand will furthermore host the Europa Cinemas network and Eurimages from the Council of Europe.
18 films supported by the European Commission's MEDIA programme are in the Cannes Film Festival's 'Official Selection' this year, of which seven are in competition for the Palme d’Or, notably "Amour" by Michael Haneke, "The Angel's Share" by Ken Loach and "Jagten" (The Hunt) by Thomas Vinterberg.

MEDIA-funded films have again triumphed at Cannes, with the 2012 Palme d’Or and Jury Prize being awarded to films that were developed and distributed with grants from MEDIA.
