Berlinale Co-production Market
he Berlinale Co-production Market exists since 2004 and its development has been supported by MEDIA since its second edition in 2005. MEDIA supports the event with a contribution for the 2013 edition. Since 2009, the event benefits from a 3-year framework partnership agreement, which has been renewed in 2012 and covers its activity until 2014. Those 3-year partnership agreements give stability to the best projects. They are very appreciated by the sectors. The Berlinale Co-production Market selects and presents on average over 40 projects, out of an average of 350 projects applied for. Out of the projects selected, around 65% are coming from various European countries (2011 figures: 28 European projects for a total of 43 projects selected, representing 11 European countries). A total of over 470 professionals are participating to the event, of which on average 75% are European.
According to 2011 figures, a total of 118 projects, which have been presented at the event since its inception in 2004, have been co-produced and many have been screened at international film festivals and/or theatrically released.
